This year, our team has carried out a significant amount of tree work and estate maintenance, including a large project at a newly purchased listed property that had experienced substantial lapses in upkeep. As specialists in tree surgery, estate grounds maintenance, and lake clearance, we were brought in to help restore key areas of the site.
With autumn approaching, we were given the green light to clear vegetation and silt so the lake could be accurately mapped before the weather turned. Working to a tight deadline, our team completed a full clearance within two weeks, removing all plant growth and obstructions in and around the pond that could hinder the mapping process. During the project, the decision was also made to remove the small island to allow for a cleaner, more accessible lake layout.
Once cleared, the lake revealed impressive dimensions—over 6 metres at its deepest point and opening into a much larger area than originally expected. With the lake fully exposed, the estate’s owners are now exploring future options, including the potential installation of ground-source heat pumps beneath the water to create a more sustainable and energy-efficient system for the property.
We will be returning in spring, once the ground has dried and final plans have been agreed, to continue supporting the estate’s restoration. Projects like this highlight the value of timely, professional estate management and the difference expert clearance work can make to long-neglected landscapes.
